On Saturday 20th of January, School on the Boat organized the 2nd edition of the Island Run. In the program: 3 different run in the Banana Island. Up to the runners to choose to run for 2,5 or 10km.
The team has been very busy during the month before the event, but the hard work has been rewarded; the run was a real success! 350 runners participate to the runs, actually much more than we expected. This event beat all SOTB’s record with the attendance and the fund raised: a benefit of 40 million Vietnamese dong!
Have Fun with the 2km: a nice way to enjoy a fun run with families and friends, here it is not about competition but reaching the finishing line together.
Give Back with the 5km: this is underlining the fact that this run is above everything, a charity run. It’s all about giving your energy for the good cause. It can also refer to the fact that the end of year celebrations is a period where people eat a lot. It symbolises the fact to go back to do exercises.
Get Fit with the 10km: It may be a fun run, but running this distance isn’t given to everybody, it requires to be in good shape and trained in a path full of landforms.
The runners seemed to enjoy a lot these runs! First of all, it was a nice opportunity for them to spend a nice day with friends and family. Many of them came as a group and helped each other to reach the finishing line. Kids, parents, friends, beginners, casual and advanced runners, all kind where unified for the cause. Secondly, the island was probably the best spot to handle a run. Beautiful and peaceful landscape, a perfect way to escape the city’s noise and pollution for a while.
Besides the runs, the people could enjoy a friendly time at Chez Xuan. Some activities were held for the kids with handicraft sessions; And they could enjoy the end of afternoon with some concerts. This restaurant is the perfect location to spend a nice after noon, outdoor and large with a good atmosphere.
This event was a real success, very good and motivating results, only positive feedbacks and a very good exposure for the NGO. Such results wouldn’t be possible without our volunteers and team members who dedicated their time. Congratulations and many thank you to all of them.
