The past week end, 13 and 14 of January, Sotb teamed up with Keep Hanoi clean to collect the trashes over the Banana Island.
Keep Hanoi Clean is an organization which is fighting against the River’s pollution in the city. It is an open group to all the volunteers who want to bring help to them. This time we decided to work together to make this Island a better place.
The Banana Island means a lot for School on the Boat. Several families from our program are living there on floating houses. The Red River Is highly polluted and keeps bringing trashes which smears the water. This is a very important issue which decrease their living conditions.
This time, the island was particularly touched. After a big period of rains, the water level on the island was very high. Some parts of it were even totally flooded under the water which brought big waves of trashes.
Saturday and Sunday morning, the teams went there to clean one of the access to the island. With many brave arms and trucks to collect the trashes, this part which was very touched got totally cleaned. The amount of trashes was very impressive; this part has been totally flooded few months ago.
We can only congratulate and thank all those good wiling people who gave their time to contribute to clean this place.
